Fredraszki

Aleksander Fredro in conversation with the characters from his own plays. Flirtations and love affairs, a sparkling, witty dialogue in a show playing with theatre tradition – and at the same time the aging author's unbelievably honest reflection on the man and his place in the world.

Love as a driving force behind people’s actions, the gap between the old and the young, shared infidelities, comedies of errors – human struggles depicted in this refreshing interpretation are timelessly relevant. Our greatest comedy writer of all time portrays Polish mentality with utmost finesse and acuity, and as a result of critics’ attacks he retreats into silent melancholy. Jan Englert reveals the fresh, remarkably contemporary aspect of Fredro’s oeuvre.
